  Joystick for docking fun

Crowded marina. Strong side wind. tight berth. Volvo Penta IPS offers a solution: The Joystick option makes the impossible easy. It takes away the fear factor out of docking and you don’t have to be a professional to look like one!

Simply move the joystick in the direction you want the boat to move. Forward, reverse, sideways, spin around. All without the help of bow and stern thrusters!

Dock from the aft deck!
You can have a joystick at a helm station, or ‘stand-alone’ without controls and steering wheel. Place one on the aft deck or wherever you have best visibility! Up to four joysticks are possible.

Easy and logical
Forget complicated shift, throttle and steering-wheel combinations in close-quarter manoeuvring. Simply move the joystick in the direction you want your boat to move.

Unparalleled manoeuvring power
The joystick function utilises the Volvo Penta IPS system, making it immensely robust and powerful. You get massive manoeuvring power to master a side wind or current and move in any direction. And in especially tricky situations, the booster function gives you even more power.

How does it work?
The secret behind the amazing moves is the Volvo Penta IPS system with its individually steerable drive units. Sophisticated and specially developed software in the EVC system transforms the driver’s joystick movements into steering angles, gear shifts and throttle positions. The boat moves exactly according to the driver’s intentions.

The joystick is easy to install – also as a retrofit – in any Volvo Penta IPS-powered boat. Splash-proof design and up to four helm stations give maximum flexibility.
